We incorporate a proven curriculum throughout various play, technology, music, and science sessions. Our techniques encourage curiosity and exploration in children. Our modern yet cozy facility serves as the right environment to deliver a fun learning experience!
The pairing of Abeka curriculum with S.T.E.A.M. learning is a beautiful combination. We have found that a well balanced schedule and program prepares our children to be able to move through the ups and downs of life with tools for success. We are also proud to offer Brightwheel, a tool that significantly helps teachers & administrators manage their classrooms, observe & track the children, communicate with you, and share photos and videos. This tool makes it easy for parents to check in, get updates, and pay tuition.
We use the Abeka Curriculum as a foundation for our classes. Abeka is a Christian creative curriculum which incorporates music, finger play, and colorful worksheets to help our little ones grasp the basics in phonics, reading, arithmetic, and writing. During this time of the day, students learn the empowering values of self control, being part of a group, concentration, and socialization. See why we love it!
S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math) Learning (Also known in circles as STEM learning) is a hands on approach to freedom in investigation, joys of discovery, and the love of learning. Children will explore the the anatomies of plants and animals, see how fish swim and frogs jump, learn about the art of building and designing, and the fun to be had in mathematical challenges. Our S.TE.A.M. Lab is equipped with a Hydroponic Plant station, Building Kits, and Tablets for exploring.
As the first S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) preschool in Leesburg, VA, Harrison Street Academy strives to provide a warm, caring and stimulating environment that prepares children to be leaders in a S.T.E.A.M. powered world. As a Christian preschool, Harrison Street Academy promotes the development of wholesome values: honesty, integrity, fairness, and caring for others more than self. Virtues that must be taught, practiced, and lived-out daily. Our program graduates will have received caring guidance and a firm foundation not only in academics, but in life and relational skills as well.
"My 2.5 year old twin boys love Harrison Street! They are always excited to go to school. The boys' vocabulary has grown exponentially even though they have only been attending for a little over a month. Communication with the teachers has been excellent and I absolutely love getting daily updates, which include pictures and videos, on the bright wheel app. It took a great weight off my shoulders to know my boys didn't have to be potty trained before starting. The kids are also fed a nutritious food before I pick them up, which is fabulous! I very much appreciate that Harrison Street's staff truly cares for my boys and I am thrilled we have found such a great fit for our family." - Becky
"My daughter just started at Harrison Street Academy in January of 2018. She is 2.5 and loves it! She usually talks about school and Mrs. Moppy (Maltby) for at least an hour after we get home. Claire goes two days a week currently. She gets a lot of time an attention from the teachers (which is great). I feel very happy that she is at HSA b/c I know she is learning and having fun. Throughout the day we get updates with pictures, videos of activities that they are doing, the naps, food etc. Great to know my baby is happy and safe during the day while we are at work. I would highly recommend HSA. Our house is already decorated in the school work/art Claire brings home and she loves it." - Sherri
